Hi Lemons,

Our next bushwalk is on Sunday, 28 June.  This will be a medium-hard full day walk from Furber Steps, Katoomba, along the Federal Pass to the Ruined Castle, and return.  Furber Steps lead down near Scenic World, where we meet up with the Federal Pass to sweep past the bewildered tourists on the boardwalks, scramble over the landslide, and then walk around through the beautiful rainforest area to the Castle (no, not a real castle, but a majestic collection of rocks high up on a ridge with 360 degree views).  We will lunch here and then return via Federal Pass to where it meets up with the Golden Stairs, walk up the stairs to the Narrowneck Ridge and then back via the dirt track and a small amount of road walking.  The walk is around 17km long, and there will be a 370m dsecent down Furber Steps, and climbs up to both the Ruined Castle and Golden Stairs.

This walk will be full of spectacular views, the majesty of the Ruined Castle, some rainforest areas and old mines, and of course wonderful company.  It is a looooong walk, but a delightful area to do it in and to stretch out those muscles.

Book:  With me by Friday, 26 June, via email or mobile.  Please make sure you provide your phone contact details as well.

Meet:  At 8.30am at the dirt carpark near the Katoomba Falls Kiosk and Katoomba Reserve ovals.  To get here if you are coming up the mountains, drive down Katoomba Street past all the shops (heading towards Echo Point) and continue staight until you come to Katoomba Falls Road off to the right.  I think there are some signs to Scenic World and the caravan park here too.  Follow Katoomba Falls Road down the hill and continue through the picnic areas.  As you are coming around a right bend you will see the koisk/cafe ahead of you and immediately on your right is the dirt road where an informal carpark is next to the oval, just before the caravan park.  Park here and this is where we will start the walk from.

Bring:  Plenty of water/drinks as its a long walk, lunch, nibbles, hat, sturdy shoes/boots, camera, raincoat etc if it looks like rain, warm jacket etc.

This will be a fantastic walk and I hope you can join us.
